Effective 14 October 2026

InstaBoxd is an iOS app that turns your recent Letterboxd watches into a shareable image. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it. The short version: InstaBoxd does not collect, store or share any personal data. There are no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking.

Information you enter

You enter a Letterboxd profile URL so the app can find your recent watches. Your device uses it to request that profile’s public RSS feed directly from Letterboxd (letterboxd.com). The request goes from your device to Letterboxd and never passes through a server run by me.

Like any website, Letterboxd receives the request, including your IP address and the profile you asked for. Their handling of that request is covered by the Letterboxd privacy policy. Film posters in the image are loaded from Letterboxd’s image servers in the same way.

Information stored on your device

InstaBoxd stores the following only on your device:

  • Your display settings, such as poster count and which details to show.
  • Your Letterboxd profile URL, if Remember me is turned on. Turning it off deletes the saved URL.

This information is never sent to me or anyone else. Deleting the app removes it.

Photos and sharing

InstaBoxd shares the generated image with the standard iOS share sheet. If you choose Save Image, iOS asks for permission to add photos to your library. The app can only add the image you chose to save. It cannot read or view your photo library.

When you share the image with another app, such as Instagram or Messages, that app’s privacy policy applies to what you send it.

Data collection

InstaBoxd:

  • does not collect personal data
  • does not use analytics or crash-reporting services
  • does not show ads
  • does not track you across apps or websites
  • does not sell or share data with third parties

Children

InstaBoxd does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy
